Cyathea cooperi (tree fern)

£25.00
We have been growing this fern for almost 20 years, our oldest plant has multiple trunks, (two & half mtrs) but it has fronds of around six feet or more. This is the species that started the whole thing off, Fernatix that is.  Probably if Steven hadn't bought two small plants of this species at an Orchid show all those years ago we'd still be lorry drivers and painter/decorators!  It can become a very impressive specimen given the space, We have over time rebuilt the poly tunnels on two courses of breeze blocks to give us more height, though I'm sure with in a few years they'll be hitting the roof again.
We find that it is an easy  plant to grow assuming you can give winter protection, of course people in central London could possibly get away with leaving him out throughout the winter in a sheltered garden.  We usually get at least minus  seven so we protect.

Cyathea cooperi is a medium to large fast growing tree fern to 15 meters (49ft) in height with 12-inches (30cm) thick trunk .The apex of the trunk and unfurling crosiers are particularly attractive covered as they are with conspicuous long, silky straw coloured scales. The crown is widely spread and light green fronds may reach a length of 4-6 metres (13-20ft).
These are not a hardy fern

Please note these are mature plants standing roughly 75cm tall
