Gymnocarpium dryopteris plumosum

This is another beautiful fern, (Plumose Oak Fern) a more plumose form of the species with all parts of the frond much broader with overlapping pinnae and pinnules.  The Oak fern is hardy deciduous fern native to north America, bearing pretty triple- headed, bright green fronds with tiny overlapping leaflets.  Also very delicate looking but just as hardy as the species also  it is quite easy to propagate and will come true from spore.  The Gymnocarpium seem to grow in a good deep soil with plenty of added leaf mould in a moistish position.
The fronds of the fern appears more full than those of the species. Its ideal for growing at the front of woodland boarder or using a ground cover in shade- loving plants such a host's.
Best in humus-rich in deep shade. Cut the fronds back in autumn as they start to fade.
8/10 inches Max height and deciduous.
